COMBINED AUTHORITY: CONTRACT AND PROCUREMENT LAWYER

Your new company

This Combined Authority provides legal services to Local Authorities in respect of property, inclusive communities, strategic transport, corporate services and infrastructure. They are looking for a Contract and Procurement Lawyer to join their legal team on a temporary basis to take on an interesting and varied caseload.

Your new role
As a Contract and Procurement Lawyer, you will be reporting into one of the Lead Lawyer within of the corporate and commercial team whilst also assisting other teams in respect of contracts and procurement. The position holder will be exposed to many interesting and projects including the common wealth games, smart energy amongst others.

  • Provide specialist legal advice and assistance on all issues arising within the post holder's area of responsibility
  • Personally conduct advocacy on behalf of the Council and instruct counsel as appropriate.
  • Approve or amend legal aspects of reports to be submitted to members requiring decisions and attend committee and other meetings to give legal advice as necessary.
  • To support with strategic and corporate legal work.
  • To deal with individual case work and prepare associated documentation.
  • To deal with corporate complaints and Members enquiries, data protection and FOI requests.
  • To keep up to date with changes in the law and other developments in the area of work allocated, to disseminate information on changes and advise on any action to be taken as a result.


What you'll need to succeed

In order to be considered for this position, you will have the following:

  • Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Cilex equivalent
  • Relevant experience within Contract and Procurement law
  • Experience within a Local Authority Legal team doing similar work
  • Ability to hit the ground running
