Litigation Lawyer (Prosecutions focused)

£47,568 - £48,576 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the progressive London Borough of Hackney Legal Service. We are currently looking to recruit to the following position with the aim of developing an innovative and accessible service which contributes to the shaping of service delivery within a high profile Local Authority.

About the role:

You will be appointed on a permanent basis, and work 36 hours per week, working on a hybrid working pattern, whilst being paid within a salary range of £47,568 to 48,576 (PO5) FTE. You will focus on Prosecution/Criminal matters as well as other areas of General Civil Litigation.

As a Litigation Lawyer you will be responsible for a mixed caseload and must be proactive in dealing with both contentious and non-contentious matters. The Litigation team advises and undertakes all aspects of litigation within a Local Authority setting. The focus of this Lawyer position will be prosecutions.

About you:

You will be a practising lawyer (i. a qualified solicitor, a barrister who has completed pupillage or a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) who is solutions focused and driven to achieve successful outcomes for our clients. You will have a background of handling prosecutions matters, as well as other areas of litigation.

The role would be suitable for a Litigation Lawyer with experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Judicial reviews
  • Commercial disputes
  • High-level contract debt claims
  • Commercial property litigation

You will have excellent subject knowledge, strong advocacy skills and an attention to detail. Inevitably, you will demonstrate resilience and tenacity but above all you must have a real enthusiasm for this area of work. Exceptional communication skills are essential, but you will also exemplify the tact and discretion needed to handle sometimes highly confidential and sensitive matters.
