Private Client Solicitor

Sellick Partnership are currently working with a well-established, reputable law firm based in Manchester where an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Private Client Solicitor to join their team.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

• Estate planning/wills

Attending meetings with clients independently and advising clients on strategy to meeting their requirements and thereafter drafting appropriate documentation following client engagement - e. wills, letters of wishes, LPA's, trusts and supplemental documentation.

• Probate administration

Conducting estate administration independently from initial instructions to distribution including all inheritance tax and administration tax issues.

• Trust creation and administration

Taking instructions on creation of a trust, drafting the same and dealing with registration with HM Revenue & Customs (and ongoing TRS requirements) including payment of any inheritance tax due. Trust administration including accounts, tax compliance, inheritance tax issues, distributions, compliance documentation and dealing with trust assets.

• Elderly client issues

Ability to recognise issues regarding capacity; taking instructions in relation to LPA's; dealing with deputyship applications; drafting the appropriate documentation for the client's needs and registering the same with the Court of Protection.

Additional Skills

• STEP qualified/working towards STEP qualification/willing to undertake STEP qualifications;
• Willingness to undertake business development to develop own contacts with hope of ultimately generating their own work;
• Team player - happy to work independently but also as part of a wider team - support and supervision always available;
• Outgoing and personable.
