Solicitor / Solicitor Advocate / Barrister - This is a well-established department, headed by a highly experienced Barrister who has structured its operation effectively like a private practice chambers. This gives advocates freedom to operate, with a guaranteed flow of quality work.
Overview
- Job Title: Solicitor / Solicitor Advocate / Barrister
- Location: Liverpool - may require travel to other offices
- Salary: to £38,500
- Reports to: Partner
- Previous Experience: Wide range of experience considered either as a Solicitor Advocate or Barrister. Hiring Managers prepared to look very broadly. So, if you have good insurance litigation experience such as RTA, EL/PL, Costs, Credit Hire, Insurance Fraud experience you will be considered. Any experience in areas of commercial insurance litigation such as professional indemnity and other complex areas would also be welcomed. NB, if you are a solicitor, you do not necessarily need rights of audience. Training and development will be provided.
A genuine focus on quality advocacy
Our client is a leading 'top tier' insurance litigation firm who has a growing in-house advocacy team. The department undertakes advocacy and court work as well as providing advisory and drafting guidance on files for various practice groups within the firm.
Work includes insurance fraud to complex areas such as catastrophic injury and large loss. The team also undertakes high-value commercial insurance litigation including professional indemnity and property damage as well as other areas of complex subrogated loss.
Key elements of role
- advocacy;
- drafting and advisory work including settling pleadings for complex cases;
- interlocutory hearings, small claims trials, fast track trials, CCMCs,
- sanctions (including private prosecution)
- mentoring less experienced advocates
- delivering training
Structure of the team
Members of the team are encouraged to explore the areas on which they wish to focus and develop niche specialisms which reflect the key areas of the firm.
Led by an experienced Barrister, the team is run similar to a private practice chambers, giving advocates the freedom and flexibility to evolve their specialisms with the safety and security of a steady flow of work.
No need to have higher rights
The team is keen to meet with Barristers or Solicitor Advocates or Solicitors who do not have higher rights but are interested in pursuing an advocacy career.
