Our client is a major global law firm. Their Energy & Climate Change Practice works globally, advising both on industry projects and transactions, but also the design and implementation of modern energy markets. The firm is uniquely placed to shape the present and future of the power and energy sector.

The Practice acts on a range of matters within the busy and fast-moving energy transition landscape, including offshore and onshore wind, interconnectors and networks, energy storage, solar, electric vehicles, hydrogen, nuclear, carbon capture and the storage and digitisation of the energy systems. In order to better support their customers, the Practice is now on the lookout for a Senior Associate level candidate (probably at least 5 years' PQE) with Commercial/Projects experience, and a future-facing mindset.

This is a broad-based role and suitable candidates will hold an in-depth understanding of the legal, industry and commercial arrangements across the power and renewables sector. This position will offer you exposure to the full spectrum of areas in this sector, including commercial, regulatory, M&A and projects work. You may also have the opportunity to advise in adjacent areas such as other utility sectors (gas, water etc).

As well as fee-earning responsibilities, as a Senior Associate you'll also have a hand in developing professional client relationships and supporting Partners as well as the wider team in developing business and raising the profile of the firm (including involvement in marketing events). Where appropriate, you'll also be responsible for managing and supervising the work of more junior lawyers and trainees.

In order to be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Qualified as a solicitor and probably have gained at least 5 years' relevant post-qualification experience in-house or in private practice in the UK or another Common Law jurisdiction.
  • Experience drafting commercial or project agreements in the sector.
  • The ability to translate legal theory into practical advice.
  • Sound judgement and good interpersonal/consultancy skills.
  • The ability to communicate succinctly with clients and colleagues.

This position is a stellar opportunity to take your career to the next level with a top ranked, high profile team at a leading global law firm.

This does not preclude applications from candidates with more or less experience
