Excellent new role for an Associate level lawyer to join the Digital team of a global law firm with this role being based in the firm's Glasgow office (with hybrid working options available).

This is a Commercial Contracts / TMT role with a difference- The Digital Economy Transactions Group as it looks to position itself at the forefront of digitalisation of industry advising traditional players in the telecoms, media and technology sectors, as well as more widely on the issues faced by all businesses in the face of the disruption and new opportunities brought about by the developing Digital Economy.

Commercial contracts is a core element of digitalisation, and also a core requirement of the business-as-usual and the firms clients as they seek to focus on wider projects to further their strategic aims. The Digital Lawyer will focus on commercial contracts expertise, but also with opportunities to develop TMT and data skills as part of the wider Digital Economy Transactions team.

The Digital Lawyer will provide direct "on the ground" assistance to clients in areas of commercial contracts and TMT work, as well as playing a critical role in the support of the firm's internationally renowned Corporate Transactions team, dealing with separation and strategic commercial aspects of some of the leading deals in the M&A market. The work performed by the Legal team in Glasgow is primarily assisting clients from the London office (and, in some circumstances, clients from Australian offices). Accordingly, this role provides a fantastic opportunity to lawyers who are interested in doing "City work" while based out of Glasgow.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a wide range of commercial contract activity, including (for example) supply contracts, agency and distribution agreements, terms and conditions of purchase and sale, transitional services agreements, consultancy agreements, IP, IT and software licensing agreements, and an understanding of the key specialist areas within each of these contracts including data protection and privacy provisions;
  • Have private practice experience or in-house experience in a role which has involved a significant element of drafting and negotiation of a broad range of commercial contracts;
  • Be technically strong;
  • Be a real team player; and
  • Although not essential, previous experience in TMT (and specifically IT) related work and qualification in English law would be beneficial.

On Offer:

Highly competitive salary and benefits package.
