Industrial Disease Solicitor / Associate - Manchester

Industrial Disease Solicitor - Manchester (UK) - The role is designed to both encourage the successful candidates to grow their own caseload, whilst giving you access to high-value, technical work.

Ideally the team is looking for candidates with 1 PQE+ and with defendant experience. In terms of the high-value cases, the successful applicant will work closely with a lead Partner on these cases which include asbestosis / mesothelioma matters.

Role overview

  • Reports to: Partner (Head of Department)
  • Previous Experience: litigated disease experience gained from a defendant firm. Candidates will be expected to be capable of handling their own litigated caseload including HAVS and NIHL as well as assisting on higher-value claims.

Impressive range of work designed to challenge and develop your career

This is a role which offers a broad range of work for a number of 'tier 1' insurer clients. The majority of the work undertaken by industrial disease solicitors within the team is litigated. The successful candidate will be encouraged to build their own caseload of technical NIHL and HAVS work.

However, the role also offers the opportunity to gain exposure to more complex work including mesothelioma / asbestosis-related work.

Examples of range of work

The head of the team has an impressive range of experience across a broad range of disease claims including:

  • work-related stress;
  • asbestos-related work;
  • RSI;
  • HAVS;
  • carbon monoxide poisoning;
  • work-related cancers.

They also have experience in other specialist areas such as historic abuse, human trafficking and PTSD cases.

Defendant experience preferred

The client is looking for candidates who have ideally cut their teeth in a reputable defendant practice and already have a thorough understanding and appreciation of how to run a litigated caseload. Ideally, the hiring managers are looking for someone who can hit the ground running as soon as possible.
