Lawyer

Our Local Authority client based in the Midlands, is currently recruiting for a locum Commercial Property Lawyer, for at least six months with potential extension. The Lawyer will sit alongside a team of five, and is supported by a team of Secretaries and a Paralegal.

The Council offer remote working, and pay rates are negotiable dependant on experience. Both full-time and part-time options will be considered.

The successful Lawyer will have 10 years’ PQE, and significant experience within local government or the public sector.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

• Freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals of large sites, for housing and commercial development
• The relocation of major town centre businesses to facilitate regeneration
• Voluntary and compulsory land assembly
• Academy conversions and mergers
• Disposal of surplus public sector premises
• Design, finance, build and operate agreements for social care facilities
• Securing high value investments on land assets
• Affordable housing schemes including acquisition of housing for the purpose
• General commercial landlord and tenant matters
• Creation, surrender and renewal of agricultural tenancies and knowledge of dilapidations

Skills required:

• Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
• Strong commercial skills and awareness

Working hours:

• Up to 37 hours per week Monday - Friday Part-time hours and flexible working available
