Senior Paralegal - Legal Services - 8 Month Contract

Location: Newcastle

Role: Contract (8 months)

Reporting To: Legal Director

Daily Rate: £350 - £400 per day

WFH Policy: Flexible working policy (The role is open to UK-based remote working candidates who are comfortable with occasional travel to the Newcastle office)

Job Description:

 The role will form part of a small project team of consultants, to undertake certain phases of work in connection with the firm's implementation of Intapp Terms ("Terms"). Terms is a new platform for the firm which will transform the way in which contractual agreements entered into between the firm and its clients are stored and accessed by its lawyers, as well as the ability of the firm to identify and comply with obligations contained in those agreements.

The role will be the Project lead and be supported by 2 junior legal associates. The project is expected to take at least 8 months with the base office located in Newcastle.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the project with the help of 2 junior legal associates (line management responsibilities).
  • Ensuring your work is accurate and thorough at all times.

        • Accurately updating internal tracking systems 

        • Being proactive about continuous improvement, systems, and processes.

        • Working efficiently and effectively within a team.

        • Providing timely updates as to work progress and always communicating effectively.

Project Tasks:   

• Reviewing the existing collection of contractual documents held by the firm in respect of each of its client relationships.

• Escalate any gaps/inconsistencies in the documents.

• Organizing the documents in a logical way.

• Identifying a complete set of the current contractual documents to transfer into Terms, together with other documents that are being treated as in-scope.

• Reviewing and coding-up relevant agreements within Terms, using the firm's chosen tags / in line with an agreed protocol.

• Undertaking checks for consistency in the coding applied to documents, including adjusting and corrections.

• Checking and editing any "dashboard" / summary of key information which is displayed within Terms for each client, including ensuring consistency in the approach and displayed information between clients.

Key skills Required:

• Law degree or similar qualification.

• Previous paralegal experience or experience of working within a legal environment.

• The ability to mentor junior consultants, allocate work and address their concerns.

• Generating daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and sharing them with the project team and quality controlling the output.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
