Well established Birmingham firm now seeks to appoint a corporate governance lawyer to their market leading team in Birmingham.
Our client is a values and social purpose driven law firm with an outstanding national reputation for work in the social business, charity, housing an education sectors.
Working in a superb team led by likeable and positively minded partners with a genuine passion for the work they do and clients they represent, you will join the firm's well regarded Corporate Governance and Funding Team which acts primarily for major clients including charities, co-operatives, social enterprises, community land trusts and not-for-profit organisations. You will work most closely with our Housing Governance experts.
Your role will entail working, in some cases independently and in others under supervision from a more senior member of the Team, to advise housing and charity clients on their governance arrangements and their regulation by the Regulator of Social Housing and on major projects such as new registrations (as charities and housing providers), mergers, joint ventures and collaborations, de-registrations, governance reviews, constitutional changes, governance failings and investigations. We also provide ad-hoc advice on regulatory matters both housing and charities, alongside training and development of Boards and Executives.
The firm is keen to speak to lawyers with a corporate and commercial background from NQ+ upwards to Senior Associate level. You will be able to demonstrate an interest in governance work and and a desire to make a real difference to your clients. Previous or current corporate governance experience would be helpful though not essential and you may be a lawyer in another law firm or in-house looking for a new challenge in a private practice which is very socially aware and purposeful.
This is an excellent and rare opportunity offering diverse, challenging and meaningful work, hybrid working, excellent support and development opportunities.
