Our client is a growing technology services business with a client base that includes FTSE 100s, blue-chip international companies, financial services companies, leading law firms, major accountancy practices, local authorities, universities and NHS Trusts. It provides a range of technology services that are invaluable to their clients and the business enjoys a high-level of repeat business.
The company is a secure company with a strong EBITDA margin and backing and investment from a PE firm. It is an acquisitive business focused on building up its IP, cross-selling its various software offerings, and becoming a solutions provider as well as a software reseller. The company culture is positive and it operates in a "nice" industry sector.
Role - Head of Legal (3 days (flexible) and remote)
The CFO seeks to recruit a dedicated Head of Legal to assume responsibility for legal and contractual matters at the company.
Specific duties include: supporting the sales team with contract review, negotiation, drafting and advice; advising the leadership team; dealing with IP and licensing matters; corporate support; operational GDPR and data matters; instructing and managing external lawyers; plus any other ad hoc matters as required.
The CFO is flexible about working arrangements with circa 2-3 days, or equivalent, being preferred. The role can be worked from home however individuals living near Manchester are preferred.
About you
You should be a qualified commercial solicitor with at least 5 years' PQE, and possibly many more. You should be confident in your own drafting ability, be capable of creating bespoke contracts where required, and have solid experience negotiating the same.
Operational knowledge of GDPR is preferred, as is the confidence to work on data processing agreements, and provide some data protection advice. An understanding of safeguards for the transfer of personal data outside of the EEA is also important. However, there is no expectation that you meet the requirements of a specialist data protection practitioner.
An interest in digital platforms, internet based technology, content writing and licensing and e-learning is preferred.
