Corporate Insurance Lawyer

A once in a lifetime opportunity has arisen for a 2021/2022 qualified Lawyer to join a global US heavyweight to join their corporate department to focus on M&As, insurance and insurance regulation.

The Firm:

• The London office has more than 120 lawyers, which is comprised of 25 partners.
• Headquartered in New York, but you will be working closely with lawyers in Paris & Frankfurt.
• The corporate insurance team consists of 1 partner, 1 international counsel and 2 associates.

The Role:

• Covers a mix of M&A, Insurance and insurance regulation.
• You will be advising insurers/reinsurers. PE firms and brokers on M&As and insurance portfolio transactions.
• Profit share and commission disputes between regulated and non-regulated businesses
• Advising on retail and commercial product sales with a view to avoiding or mitigating regulatory enforcement
• Acting for commercial policyholders on a range of contentious insurance matters

Requirements:

• The successful candidate must be technically excellent but, equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development.
• They will be a team player with a strong client-focused approach.
• They will also have excellent communication and organisational skills.
• For a September 2022 qualifier, a candidate who has done 2 seats, one in M&A and one in insurance would be required.
• For a 2021 qualifier, a 2021 qualifier in insurance would be considered, but you'd need to want to focus on corporate insurance.
• Have experience at a top magic circle/US firm.
• Ultimately, they will have the soft-skills allied with technical delivery to create their own practice and generate revenue. Lawyers in the Insurance Team are encouraged to develop trusted adviser status at the Executive level for our largest clients, and they will be supported to develop these skills by lawyers with a proven track record of doing this.
