Our client is an exceptional international law firm.

Their integrated Restructuring and Insolvency team comprises a global team of lawyers, banking, litigation and finance experts. Collectively, they possess the in-depth knowledge and expertise to work with any business facing restructuring, insolvency or contentious issues. Their tailored advice covers the whole spectrum of corporate distress, from early stages through creditor workouts, debt and equity restructurings, workforce reorganisations, corporate transformation, and formal insolvency administration.

They are particularly well known for advising on extremely complex distressed situations, across multiple jurisdictions, which sometimes include other elements such as special situation financing or litigation. The firm acts for some of the largest and most high profile clients involved in turnaround situations, including debtors, lenders and insolvency practitioners, across many sectors, including energy, oil and gas, mining, marine and shipping, infrastructure and real estate.

Due to a strong and growing pipeline of work, the Group are now looking for an additional high quality mid-senior-level Associate.

As a senior member of the group, there will be opportunities for you to lead on client matters, including negotiation and the preparation of proposals, estimates and pitches. You'll also be responsible for supervising the team to support optimal utilisation, delegating work to juniors as appropriate, and keeping partners informed and assisting them to monitor and control progress against objectives, scope, timelines and budgets.

This role will include opportunities for regular client contact, and as such you will be required to keep clients informed of progress, ensure all compliance and risk management processes are followed, propose fees and manage client expectations as to cost, quality and time. You'll also be encouraged to expand client relationships and to continue to seek opportunities for new work with new and existing clients.

In order to be considered for this exceptional opportunity, you will have:

  • Qualified in England & Wales or another common law jurisdiction, and gained probably at least 4 years' PQE in restructuring and insolvency
  • Excellent academics
  • A common sense, down-to-earth approach
  • Advanced legal skills, including complex drafting, negotiation and project management skills, good people management and business development skills
  • Commerciality and the ability to work in a sometimes fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment
  • Willingness to learn and the ability to work hard
  • The ability to deal with clients and colleagues in a relaxed and confident manner
