A role within the business based in the non-contentious property transactions team, to assist and support the business on a specific project relating to the acquisition of a portfolio of residential properties and their registration at HM Land Registry.

Description


  • Obtaining relevant title searches from HM Land Registry and interpreting the same.
  • Performing legal due diligence on land registry titles and title plans, leases, deeds and other property title documents, together with analysing title structures.
  • Drafting relevant transfers of title, consents and certificates.
  • Dealing with queries and legal title or acquisition enquires referred by other members of staff.
  • Completing relevant HM Land Registry forms and submitting applications to HM Land Registry and dealing with any requisitions raised.
  • Assisting on first registration applications by preparing relevant documents.
  • Updating and checking property management system data, updating staff where necessary and responding to both internal and external third parties as appropriate when queries and enquires are raised.
  • Reporting to Legal Transactions Manager/Head of Legal Transactions regarding work requirements, deadlines and expectations, and protecting the interests of the Company at all times.

  • Profile

    Skills and knowledge: essential

    • Law Graduate, or equivalent academic/professional qualifications with experience in property law/residential conveyancing
    • A good understanding of conveyancing and land registry procedures and relevant property law and the ability to understand and explain legal technicalities and processes
    • Ability to draft various clauses and documents and the ability to appreciate the implications
    • High degree of integrity and reliability
    • Proven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, good organisation skills, and able to work within a team
    • Computer literate: intermediate use of Word and Excel
    • Numerate and an effective communicator in writing and orally

    Skills and knowledge: desirable

    • An understanding of lease extensions, sale conditions and reports on title.
    • Previous in-house experience, especially within the property industry
    • Experience of property acquisitions and corporate purchases.
    • Interest in relevant legal property related research and a desire to acquire new skills
