Legal Counsel - Maternity cover (12 months)
Your new company
A multinational retail brand that has been a global leader for over 20 years. This retail brand is known for its attention to operational details and continuous product development. It operates in more than 45 countries and has an exceptional reputation within the sector. Its headquarters are in Europe, over 10,000+ employees work for this organisation, and it is consistent with its growth trajectory.
Your new role
An Inhouse Legal Counsel (12-month contract covering maternity leave) reporting directly into the General Counsel. You will be responsible for reviewing, supporting, and securing all legal aspects of the businesses and operations within the framework of a holding company. You will focus on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements and legal documents, whilst providing valuable legal advice across multiple areas of the business including construction, financial regulatory, data privacy, property and more. You will also contribute to and support the implementation of the company's business plan and keep updated on relevant international and local legal governance development. You will be responsible for building good relations with internal stakeholders and external partners.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a solicitor qualified in England and Wales with a minimum of 2 years' PQE (intended as a guide only). You will have prior experience in either commercial, property or litigation, ideally experience in all these sectors. You will be dynamic and have prior inhouse legal counsel experience. Retail sector experience is not necessary but is always appreciated. While it is not required, experience in data protection is also desirable.
What you'll get in return
This is a great opportunity to take on an Inhouse role with a global leader in its field. Working in a small team you will be given high levels of responsibility. You will have the opportunity to not only focus on commercial contracts but exposure to other areas of the business such as litigation or data protection, giving you greater legal scope. A hybrid working pattern is available which requires you to only be in the office 8 days every month. You can obtain a good work-life balance combined with a great benefits package.
