Legal Counsel + DPO/Commercial Contracts Manager Job Reading + Hybrid Working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercial Legal Counsel & Data Protection Officer to join this highly regulated business. This role is based in their Reading office however they embrace flexible working, with 2 days from home per week.
Your new role
As Legal counsel & Data Protection Officer, you will be responsible for providing legal support the Company and providing advice on Data Protection as the Data Protection Officer for the business. You will be responsible for providing proactive advice, guidance and support across the full range of Legal queries in a timely manner. This is a fast-paced role in a busy in-house legal team, dealing with a diverse range of commercial and legal issues. You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing commercial contracts including CDAs, consultancy agreements, PV agreements, termination letters, procurement agreements, supply contracts, service agreements and any amendments or extensions as needed. You will also be responsible for the management of the contract database, and for ensuring continued compliance with obligations under the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 as its Data Protection Officer.
What you'll need to succeed
Our client is looking for candidates from either a private practice or in-house background with 2 years of broad commercial law experience including drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements. They are also keen to hear from experienced paralegals, legal executives and commercial contracts managers with experience gained either in a law firm or in-house. You will be passionate about your work and have a commercial and 'can do' approach. GDPR and data protection law knowledge and experience would be preferred.
