Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting with trade mark, design and copyright cases, as well other IP-related disputes, including:
• pre-action advisory work
• infringement and cancellation proceedings before IPEC, High Court and Patents Court (designs)
• oppositions and cancellation proceedings at the UKIPO
• alternative dispute resolution procedures (e. mediation)
• co-ordinating foreign proceedings and liaising with overseas counsel
• anti-counterfeiting work including Customs/Trading Standards actions, online take downs
• domain name disputes (e. Nominet and UDRP)
• Company Names Tribunal cases
• Negotiating and drafting settlement and co-existence agreements
• Provide commercial law advice, drafting and advising on commercial contracts with an IP angle, including:
• licence and assignment agreements
• non-disclosure agreements
• due diligence
• Assisting with non-IP contentious matters, for example, relating to consumer law
• Participate in business development

Person Specification:

Qualifications

• Degree level education and Graduate Diploma in Law (if applicable)
• Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LPC)
• Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice, University of Oxford (desirable)

Experience

• 2 - 4 years post qualification experience
• Experience of contentious soft IP litigation before the IPEC, High Court or Patents Court (designs)

Knowledge and skills

• Excellent communication skills
• The ability to develop strong working relationships with both colleagues and clients
• Languages would be beneficial
