Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with trade mark, design and copyright cases, as well other IP-related disputes, including:
- pre-action advisory work
- infringement and cancellation proceedings before IPEC, High Court and Patents Court (designs)
- oppositions and cancellation proceedings at the UKIPO
- alternative dispute resolution procedures (e. mediation)
- co-ordinating foreign proceedings and liaising with overseas counsel
- anti-counterfeiting work including Customs/Trading Standards actions, online take downs
- domain name disputes (e. Nominet and UDRP)
- Company Names Tribunal cases
- Negotiating and drafting settlement and co-existence agreements
- Provide commercial law advice, drafting and advising on commercial contracts with an IP angle, including:
- licence and assignment agreements
- non-disclosure agreements
- due diligence
- Assisting with non-IP contentious matters, for example, relating to consumer law
- Participate in business development
Person Specification:
Qualifications
- Degree level education and Graduate Diploma in Law (if applicable)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LPC)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice, University of Oxford (desirable)
Experience
- 2 - 4 years post qualification experience
- Experience of contentious soft IP litigation before the IPEC, High Court or Patents Court (designs)
Knowledge and skills
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to develop strong working relationships with both colleagues and clients
- Languages would be beneficial
