Highly successful financial services organisation is looking to hire a General Counsel to head up their Legal team. This role can be based anywhere in Scotland as the business has offices in: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen. The role can also be a hybrid-working arrangement.

 

Role Profile:

 

  • Reporting directly to the CFO, you will manage the Legal, Governance, Risk & Compliance team.
  • Review standard terms and conditions and compliance policies and procedures.  
  • Support the CFO on contractual matters where they arise, managing external advisors where necessary.
  • Oversee risk management and reporting framework.
  • Oversee the collation of information for annual compliance and insurance obligations.
  • Develop and provide monthly governance, risk and compliance reporting.
  • Responsible for the management and monitoring of all GRC policies including Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Bribery, Data Protection, Risk Management.
  • Undertake annual compliance reviews as and when required.
  • Be point of contact and advisor in relation to all GRC matters.
  • Develop, manage and maintain GRC information, advice and guidance.
  • Support the CFO in the production and collation of information to support the governance board and committees.
  • Support the delivery of the GRC strategy and objectives into calendarised actions and deliverables.
  • Work collaboratively with other support functions (People Experience, Finance, IT, Health & Safety) to ensure a coordinated approach to support for operations.
  •  Undertake strategic GRC projects (or be GRC lead) in company wide projects.

 

Candidate Requirements:

 

Qualified solicitor, preferable admitted in Scotland.  

Experience of a governance, risk or compliance role.

Track record of delivering within a fast-paced environment.

Organised and detail oriented.

Self-starter, initiative led and quick learner.

Curious, able to question and challenge existing ways of working.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the firm.

Open, transparent and collaborative.

Demonstrates resilience and ability to take decisive action.
