The Role
- Deliver support and advice in respect of the team's activities generally across multiple offices in the UK and internationally
- Oversee the negotiation and preparation of transnational and contractual documentation with the business and with external lawyers where instructed
- Identify legal risks in consideration of internal credit requirements
- Assist in various capacities with the delivery of the team's transactions and projects, special initiatives, new products, issues resolution or business opportunities
- Liaise with all areas of compliance to ensure adherence to the company's regulatory obligations and implementation of new initiatives
- Review and oversee external legal providers to ensure compliance with service level agreements and the Group legal policies
- Attend and conduct alternative dispute resolution meetings
- Ensure the team's platforms (e. contractual templates) have a robust legal risk environment
- Provide effective legal advice/oversight and support:
- New products;
- Back book related matters including problematic complaints, litigation and court procedures;
- Policies and procedures;
- Transaction documentation such as HP, PCP, lease and loan financing agreements, terms sheets, security documents, etc;
- Legal documentation including terms and conditions and client documentation (including consideration of unfair contract terms/matters).
Skills/Knowledge:
- Qualified solicitor with an asset finance background
- Ability to assess and interpret legal risks
- A reasonable understanding of secured lending and requirements for amending documents.
