Our Client is a leading renewable Energy company based in Northamptonshire and are actively looking to recruit an experienced legal counsel lawyer to join their busy team.
You will provide legal support on a range of commercial and development projects, corporate and regulatory matters and provide day-to-day legal advice to all areas of the business, including the Senior Management Team. The role would suit a lawyer with private practice experience looking to make his or her first move into industry, as much as it would suit an individual with an in-house legal background already. It will appeal most to a lawyer who is genuinely excited by the opportunity to work for a dynamic business supporting the transition to a low carbon energy sector and to expand your skills with the opportunity to advise on a variety of areas of law.
What you will bring
- Qualified solicitor of c.4 years PQE + or experience in commercial, construction or ren Excellent attention to detail and drafting skills with a broad commercial and contracts experience Corporate, banking and regulatory experience also preferred due to scope of the role Sound knowledge of commercial (B2B) and contract law Previous experience in the energy sector would be valuable – interest in the energy Commercially aware with good business acumen and concise communication skills Able to work independently and proactively manage an allocated workload
What you will do
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of contracts fundamental to the core operations of the business including strategic group procurement contracts, offtake agreements and construction project documents. Legal advice, support and delivery of training to Functional Heads across the business (including the central procurement team, site management and operations teams and development, IT, commercial and finance teams) to assist in their review, negotiation and approval of ‘non-fundamental’ contracts against permitted terms of business. Provision of legal support to cross discipline growth initiative teams in relation to strategic projects including M&A, development opportunities (principally solar, battery and power response projects) and related financing arrangements. Advising on resolution of disputes and litigation Advising on a broad range of commercial and regulatory issues and risk management initiatives including those relating to data protection, anti bribery, anti tax evasion and modern slavery and monitoring and advising on legislative and regulatory developments Assisting in the development and audit of legal and corporate infrastructure including policies and procedures and standard form contracts.
Qualified solicitor with experience in one or more of the following: commercial contracts, projects, corporate or project finance Experience of renewable energy projects or the power generation sector would be an advantage, but is not essential.
This is a Hybrid role with requirements to be in the offcie1 or 2 days a week.
