Personal Injury Solicitor / Associate EL/PL - This is a highly-regarded team which specialises in defending EL/PL claims brought against key public sector clients. Clients range from Local Authorities, as well as Police and other emergency services.

  • Job Title: Associate
  • Location: Manchester
  • Salary:£39,000 - £50,000
  • Reports to: Partner / Team Leader
  • Previous experience: Minimum of 1 year PQE, ideally in personal injury. Defendant experience would be ideal. Candidates do not necessarily have to demonstrate previous experience of local authority work. Provided, you can demonstrate good technical litigated experience, training will be provided.

Varied client base and range of work

This is a dynamic department handling a varied mix of work for a range of public sector clients. The type of claims involved include everything from straight forward 'slips and trips' to far more complex injury and damage matters all the way up to high-value large loss claims. Depending on the client, the role may also draw on other aspects of law such. See below:

What makes the role different

  • New areas of law - Because of the nature of the client base especially concerning cases involving the police, candidates may have the opportunity to gain experience of other areas of law such as issues of human rights or misfeasance. Therefore, there are multiple opportunities to broaden your scope of work.
  • Client relationships - public sector clients operate differently from corporates or major insurers, one of the main aspects of the role therefore revolves around relationship building. The firm is looking for candidates with excellent client management skills and the ability to give clear, commercial advice.
  • Ongoing client training - this team in particular hosts numerous seminars to keep their clients up-to-speed with the latest caselaw and statutory developments in this area.

A broad spectrum of candidates considered

The team welcomes applications from a broad range of candidates. Ideally, they would prefer if applicants had some degree of personal injury experience especially EL/PL. Ideally all candidates should have at least 1 PQE as a qualified solicitor or legal executive. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong academic CV.
