About the Assistant Head of Legal Services role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented individual to join the existing Legal Services team as Assistant Head of Legal Services, which forms part of the Law & Standards Service of the Council.
Sellick Partnership are working with Newport City Council to recruit an Assistant Head of Legal Services. Newport covers an area of just over 73 square miles and stands at the gateway between England and Wales. It is a vibrant and multi-cultural city steeped in a rich industrial heritage, where traditional industries sit alongside new electronics and financial service sectors.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Head of Legal Services
As Assistant Head of Legal Services you will be responsible to ensure that a high-quality legal service is delivered across the Council. The Legal Services function of the Council incorporates:
- Legal Services, including Litigation, Property and Planning and Adult and Childrens Social Care
- Insurance
- Local Land Charges
- Administration functions
As part of the role as Assistant Head of Legal Services you will also be responsible for the management of all the staff and resources within the Legal Services function of the Council.
Requirements for the Assistant Head of Legal Services role
Newport are looking for an exceptional person; someone who is professional and who can model the Council values, Courageous, Positive and Responsible. If you are a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual they would welcome an application from you to manage our Legal Services. As part of the role, you will also have the opportunity to deputise for the Head of Law and Standards as the Solicitor to the Council and Deputy Monitoring Officer.
