Data Protection Manager- Retail Sector- Somerset

 

Our client occupies the retail sector and is one of the fastest growing businesses in the UK.

We are looking for an experienced Data Protection Manager to take the lead on all matters relating to Data Privacy.

 

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance and best practice in controlling and processing personal data and managing the related legal risk of supplier relationships.

 

This is a dynamic and fast moving organisation. You will have the autonomy and ownership to make the role your own,

 

 

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

 

Data protection

  • Lead privacy specialist in the business, covering all legal and compliance matters relating to personal data

 

  • Implementing robust data governance across the business, leading implementation across all relevant functions

 

  • Mitigating and negotiating data protection issues arising from supplier contracts

 

  • Managing data protection breaches, including preparing notifications to the ICO

 

  • Implementing measures in business practice to improve data processing

 

  • Advising on data protection issues, including customer complaints

 

  • Managing technical customer issues around data handling including advising on more complex DSARs

 

  • Advising the business on how to maximise its use of personal data in marketing campaigns and initiatives within the parameters of the applicable legislation

 

  • Developing the structure for managing customer and employee data in a way that is efficient and accessible by the business

 

  • Responsibility for management of the data maps, including regular updates

 

  • Assisting colleagues with completion of data protection impact assessments

 

  • Review and, if appropriate, approval of data protection impact assessments

 

  • Aligning Screwfix practice with Kingfisher’s data policies and processes

 

  • Collaborating on data protection matters with the Compliance team at Kingfisher including the implementation of governance, initiatives and training

 

  • Continually identifying data risks, propose solutions where necessary and effectively manage stakeholder expectations throughout

 

  • Organising and leading a cohort of data champions in functions across the business by ensuring that they are coached, trained, and appropriately supported to fulfil their responsibilities

 

 

Required Skills & Experience:

 

  • Track record of advising on data protection and privacy matters
  • Strong analytical approach and ability to think strategically about the balance between legal risk and business priorities
  • CIPP/E qualification would be advantageous
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, including the ability to resolve competing priorities and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • First-class organisation skills to enable various tasks to be completed accurately, on time and to a high standard
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, comfortable leading large meetings to drive cross-functional collaboration and adoption of ideas
  • Flexibility and agility to adjust to new demands without dropping standards

 

Office/Hybrid working

 

2 days office based from the Somerset HQ.
