Private practice law firm in Reading, listed in the directories for the work it does in Charities law, is seeking to recruit a Charities lawyer of 0 to 3 years’ PQE. The team provides advice to over 400 charities, not-for-profit and social enterprises across the South of England and Wales.  The practice is currently acting for a wide variety of charity clients on high quality and interesting matters. clients include those working internationally, and in healthcare, educational, religious and military sectors.  The Charities team is also responsible for the firm's Academies practice. The successful candidate will advise on a wide range of charity and not-for-profit related matters including the establishment and registration of new charities, the incorporation of existing charities, collaborative working and mergers, the provision of governance advice to trustees and senior management teams and applying to and liaising with the Charity Commission as regulator for the sector. Your clients will include charities, schools/academies, and other not-for-profit organisations.

You will be involved in drafting and amending governing documents and relevant commercial agreements (eg. for grant making and fund-raising) and will be encouraged to act as an extension of their clients' in-house legal teams. You will have developed a genuine interest in charity law and governance work in your early career and/or training contract.  You will be keen to improve upon your drafting and negotiating skills; carrying out legal research and due diligence; guiding clients in a supportive environment through operational challenges; providing advice in an unambiguous and pragmatic manner; developing client relationships and ensuring that you are a key member of the team to deliver solutions in line with our clients' aims.
