Business Development Manager - Leading Law Firm London

This role is to support the Head of London office and work as an integrated member of the firm’s wider Dublin based Marketing and Business Development teams to develop and drive forward the firm’s growth strategy. You will report to the Head of Practice Area Marketing and Business Development. You will also have a reporting line to the Head of UK Office and Head of Strategic Accounts.

About the role:

In this role you will provide hands-on support to the Head of London office, Head of Marketing and Business Development and Head of Strategic Accounts working as an integrated part of the Marketing & Business Development team.

Business Development:

  • Organise and drive targeting programmes focused on generating new business from international law firms, key intermediaries, targets and clients and grow market share;
  • Prompting and monitoring business development and pursuit activities and tracking results and return on investment;
  • Identify cross-selling, cross-marketing and collaboration opportunities for Partners and practice groups including co-ordinating itineraries of firms delegates to ensure maximum opportunity for engagement;
  • Support business development with thorough background research and produce reports, analysis and briefings using external sources and interrogating internal systems and ensure all personnel are fully briefed in advance of meetings;
  • Record all client/prospect engagement on the CRM system (InterAction) ensuring that all details are up to date;
  • Seek to identify new business development opportunities, by “opportunity and client spotting” and through strategic research on potential clients, competitors and industry developments; and
  • Be familiar with clients, targets, law firms relationships, experience and the markets in which the firm operates.

Marketing:

  • Manage delivery of London based events calendar to achieve targets and return on investment.
  • Deliver effective event communications to include writing, editing, reviewing and issuing communications.
  • Work with internal and external suppliers in the selection of venues and creation, design and delivery of bespoke event collateral and thought leadership pieces.
  • Deliver multiple events to budget and deadline.

About You:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in business to business sales, events & marketing preferably within the professional services sector;
  • Ability to swiftly identify opportunities and professionally manage and guide lawyers through the business development / sales cycles in the legal services market;
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills across all media;
  • High degree of professionalism, with a confident, assertive style;
  • Highly motivated with an exceptionally strong desire and drive to succeed;
  • Strong project management skills, whilst event management would be preferable, the ability to manage in a matrix environment is essential.
  • Ability to work autonomously with a high level of tenacity;
  • Effective time management skills and commitment to work to strict deadlines;
  • Solid computer skills; and Strong research, trend spotting, competitive analysis and spread sheet analysis skills.
