Global engineering company requires an employment lawyer to take on an EMEA wide brief. Reporting into the Head of Employment in the US, you will undertake a broad ranging role where your responsibilities will include:

Advising the Company on a broad range of employment law (dispute and non-dispute), including day-to-day support, claims and TUPE; and providing pragmatic advice and counsel to the company with respect to data protection matters and its on-going compliance project surrounding implementation of the GDPR within the business.
Core requirements for the role include:: Experience in the above areas, strong technical ability, teamwork, strong written and oral communication skills and the willingness to work under pressure in a global company. Must be a team player capable of working independently with multiple issues in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining emphasis on overall corporate policies and goals.

Employment & Data Protection

The role will involve advising the company's HR team and management across all business units within the EMEA region on day-to-day employment lifecycle issues, including employment contracts and polices, IR35, employee benefits, disputes and grievances. The successful candidate will also advise and support the company on any employment claims and on Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations ("TUPE") issues arising out of bidding for and executing contracts. In addition, the successful candidate will be a member of the company's Data Privacy Committee and will provide advice and assist in data protection/privacy compliance matters by participating in or conducting data protection impact risk assessments and/or audits, reviewing data protection related language in contracts, developing and implementing GDPR compliance measures and training, managing responses to data breach incidents, data subject access requests, and serving as an internal resource to the business on data protection issues.

Essential:

UK Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with any prior experience with handling employee benefits or pension matters is a plus.
