JOB TITLE: Senior Legal Counsel
PQE REQUIRED: 10+
LOCATION: South East (remote)
SALARY: On application
THE ROLE: The Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with other in-house counsel, and compliance managers primarily focused on projects arising in the EMEA & CIS area. They will work on wide variety of legal matters across all divisions within the company.
• Overseeing the EMEA contracts department in reviewing various purchase, sale, distribution and service contracts and other commercial proposals and contracts and maintaining accurate and complete records of contracts and approvals;
• Personally reviewing and advising on material commercial contracts (for all divisions), including sales agency and distribution contracts and public procurement contracts with various EMEA & CIS governments and government agencies;
• Drafting and reviewing teaming agreements and subcontracts with various international partners;
• Advising on potential disputes arising from operations in EMEA;
• Analysing regulatory aspects of market entry in new jurisdictions and, where required, setting up local legal entities and arranging/overseeing annual corporate maintenance of the same;
• Reviewing and negotiating property leases in various jurisdictions in the region;
• Managing outside counsel relationships in various projects;
• Anticipating and guarding against legal risks facing the company;
• Assisting the Finance and HR departments when needed (in more complex matters);
THE CANDIDATE:
• 10+ years post qualification experience as a solicitor/barrister in England and Wales (or admitted in another relevant jurisdiction)
• Experience as in-house counsel or in a leading law firm working on international transactions;
• Capable of handling complex negotiations and advising senior company management regarding contractual and other requirements and risks;
• Enjoys dealing with different cultures;
• Willing to handle legal projects that are not within areas of previous expertise, e., willing to learn on the job and develop new areas of competence;
• Prior experience working for a US-based, international company would be an asset.
