This is a junior-to-mid-level in house legal role for a qualified lawyer with strong commercial contracts experience.

Client Details

Our Client is a major player in the rail sector with over £3BN of assets under management.

Description

Working as part of a highly collegiate and supportive in-house legal team, you will provide legal advice and support to key stakeholders in all areas of the business (including commercial, customer services, projects, innovation and procurement teams).

You will be gaining experience in the core areas of the business by undertaking the following types of work:

  • Providing strategic legal advice on contractual, intellectual property, information technology, regulatory, competition law and insurance matters
  • Drafting a wide range of commercial contracts including lease agreements, engineering/maintenance contracts, manufacture and supply contracts, amendment letters and variation orders, software-as-a-service contracts, consultancy agreements and confidentiality agreements
  • Assisting all areas of the business in the structuring, documenting and development of new projects and opportunities
  • Assisting all areas of the business in negotiations with external customers, suppliers and regulatory authorities

Profile

The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer either in the UK or in an equivalent common law jurisdiction (please note, sponsorship is not on offer for this role)

They will

  • be likely to be have between 2 - 5 years PQE in commercial and/or engineering, maintenance or manufacture and supply contracts ideally including experience in intellectual property/software-as-a-service.
  • have spent time in-house, either in a full-time role or on secondment, although those with solely private practice backgrounds will be considered if they can demonstrate a clear commitment to a career in-house; and
  • will be a pragmatic individual with exceptional communication skills, the confidence to work with clients and colleagues at all levels, both lawyers and non-lawyers, and the desire to integrate fully into the business.
