Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer – West Midlands – 3 months – Remote Working – Full Time – Up to £55 per hour Umbrella
Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team are working with a friendly and respectable Local Authority based in the West Midland’s region, seeking a Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer.
Duration: 3 months with the likelihood of extension thereafter
Location: West Midlands
Role: Locum Commercial Contracts Lawyer
Working Pattern: Full time, however part time candidates may also be considered
Working Arrangement: Remote working
Rate: Up to £55 per hour Umbrella, dependent upon the individuals’ relevant experience
The ideal candidate for this role with be a Qualified lawyer, either a Solicitor, Barrister or an experienced CILEX professional. Experience handling a commercial contract’s caseload including construction contracts, within Local Government is essential. The Authority have also advised that this role will involve acting as a trusted advisor for commercial projects and can work independently on contractual matters.
Duties for this role may include:
- Responsible for handling a general commercial contracts caseload along with construction contracts such as JCT or NEC’s
- Providing commercial advice on projects, including construction contracts and general strategy
- Offering both general commercial advice and general procurement advice to clients, including concessions with leases
- Handling grant agreements and subsidy control advice
- Negotiating, drafting and reviewing legal documents including any contractual agreements, settlements and construction contracts, particularly JCT’s, on behalf of the Council
- Representing and advising clients on behalf of the Authority and negotiating with third parties as and when required
- Providing legal advice on behalf of the Council on contractual matters and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders
