Head of Legal, Manchester (Office Based)

Your new company
You will join an established UK business, headquartered in London, with an increasing presence as it continues to open offices across the UK, Europe and America. The leadership team is looking to appoint a Head of Legal to manage and develop the existing legal team and support the business through an exciting period of growth.

Your new role
You will report directly into the Operations Director and as Head of Legal, you will be responsible for leading on commercial contracts matters, presenting to the board, managing the existing legal team (including training and development) as well as supporting the business through a growth phase. You will provide advice across the group companies for all legal, compliance and corporate governance matters. You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, introducing and promoting best practice and working with external lawyers where necessary. This is a business facing and office based role.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a UK qualified solicitor with a good level of experience in dealing with senior stakeholders in a commercial environment. You must be comfortable drafting and negotiating a range of commercial contracts as well as dealing with in-house legal queries. You must have experience in managing a team and enjoy training and developing junior lawyers.

You will need to have excellent communication and relationship building skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and challenge where necessary. You will either be a seasoned in-house lawyer, ideally with experience in working in a sales environment, or a commercial solicitor in private practice, ready to take on a senior role in-house.

You must be available to work in the Manchester office with occasional travel to other offices.
