Your new company

You will have the opportunity to work in one of London's most attractive areas, providing quality services for residents, communities and other departments within the Council, putting local people at the heart of decision making in everything you do.

Your new role
The main responsibilities include providing legal advice to the councils and their various departments on all matters relating to adult social care legislation. You will conduct proceedings, public inquiries, appeals and judicial reviews in the Courts and before Tribunals and appear as an advocate as appropriate. You will draft, prepare and collate statements of case and other legal documentation, advise on law and evidence, interview witnesses and draft statements and affidavits. You will draft and advise on reports for the Cabinet, Cabinet Members, Council Committees and Sub-Committees and attend such committees and other meetings as the Director of Law may require. You will also attend and act as one of the legal advisers at Council meetings and committees as and when required (which may be held outside standard working hours) as well as provide both legal and procedural advice to Members and Officers at these Committees.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you must be a qualified solicitor or barrister with knowledge of adult social care and related legislation and case law, broad knowledge of Local Government law or equivalent knowledge and willingness to learn. You will ideally also have experience of advising on cases in Courts, Tribunals, and Inquiries, including undertaking public inquiries and judicial reviews.
