Costs Negotiator / Draftsperson - Bolton

Costs Negotiator / Draftsperson - A leading costs team is looking for an experienced costs fee earner to handle complex injury costs work. The role will encompass a broad range of costs work from RTA and EL/PL. There will also be scope to handle costs work arising out of other practice areas such as clinical negligence.

  • Previous Experience: Experience of defendant costs work would be ideal especially experience of EL/PL and RTA costs related work.

Based from the Bolton office, the department works on costs files from all manner of clients including major insurers and corporate entities particularly in the leisure and retail sectors. The team also undertakes a good deal of public sector work. The work ranges from fast track to multi track and large loss matters, offering the candidate real scope to develop their experience.

Role and responsibilities

  • Drafting Precedent H and Precedent R
  • Preparing points of dispute
  • Analysing files to identify strengths and weaknesses.
  • Delivering cost strategy reports.
  • Conducting own advocacy where possible or instructing Counsel where necessary to attend detailed assessment
  • Provide written updates and progress reports to clients detailing case activity
