Your new company

An exciting new opportunity for a Corporate Solicitor has arisen with a leading international law firm with offices in Belfast. You will join a team which specialises in providing legal services to investment fund businesses.

Our client is seeking an engaged team member with some experience/training in a corporate/commercial firm, who is willing to adapt and build up their knowledge and experience in this legal area.

Your new role

As the Corporate Solicitor, you will work closely with the senior Funds team, supporting them in supervising and training teams of Trainees and Legal Analysts.

You will also be expected from time to time, to step up and lead projects, escalating to Senior Solicitors/Managers who will support as necessary.

This role will require you to have a "can do" approach and - if appropriate, in specific circumstances - a willingness to lend a hand to other practice areas in the office if time permits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fee-earning work.
  • Escalate project-specific issues appropriately to senior team members.
  • Support with the development of workflow for specific projects, including drafting relevant sections of the process manual and supporting instructing teams generally with the drafting of project instructions.
  • Assist in drafting, updating and revising all internal processes relating to the legal practice (in the practice area relevant to the candidate's expertise), including making recommendations for improvements in the quality of service delivery.
  • Communicating with clients on a regular basis - excellent drafting skills will therefore be essential.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of relevant areas of law generally, and as an "expert" in relation to specialist areas of practice.
  • Where appropriate and where required by specific practice areas/clients/projects, managing the billing process and WIP management.
  • Liaising with teams elsewhere in the firm as required on fee-earning or other projects.

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will be a Corporate lawyer, either a qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales or Northern Ireland, but Republic of Ireland or other common law jurisdictions will be considered. (If not qualified in England and Wales then willing to complete process to requalify as such, if required.). Various levels of PQE will be considered, but ideally the candidate will be between NQ-3 years PQE.
  • Experience gained in a strong corporate and/or commercial team is highly desirable.
  • High level of attention to detail, but can also step back from the detail and see problems, opportunities and trends.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to summarise complex issues succinctly verbally and in writing and to liaise directly with clients, service providers and external counsel.
  • Strong analytical ability, coupled with sound judgement to balance multiple factors and solve complex problems.

What you'll get in return

Excellent salary, package of benefits and flexible working options are all available for you.
