General Counsel, Energy and Heavy Industry
Our client, a leading company in the energy, chemicals, and heavy industry sectors, is seeking a General Counsel to join their team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have 20+ years of experience of in-house legal work, and have worked for a listed company.
Role and responsibilities:
* Providing legal advice and support to the company on all legal matters, including corporate governance, commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and regulatory compliance.
* Managing the legal team and providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior lawyers.
* Building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and regulatory bodies.
* Developing and implementing legal policies and procedures to ensure the company's compliance with local and international laws and regulations.
* Participating in negotiations and transactions to ensure that the company's legal interests are protected.
Candidate requirements:
* A minimum of 20 years of experience of in-house legal work.
* Experience working for a listed company is essential.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* The role will be based full time in Abu Dhabi.
* You do not need to have direct experience in the Middle East market, but it will help.
