Divisional Chief Legal Counsel, Aberdeen/Hybrid

Fantastic opportunity to act as a divisional Chief Legal Counsel for a global energy services group. Working closely with the senior leadership team taking responsibility for all divisional legal advice you will act as a trusted adviser and manage another lawyer.

Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the division MD
• Manging legal provision on operational, contractual and compliance issues specific to this division, proactively managing risk
• Lead and implement strategic initiatives
• Key legal business adviser predominantly to the management team as well as commercial, procurement, employment, finance, treasury, and insurance
• Handle a wide range of complex international commercial work including bespoke contracts: agency, licensing, distribution, development, consortium, framework, guarantees and confidentiality
• Support to tenders and new market development
• Procurement and management of subcontractors/suppliers
• Overseeing acquisitions, disposals, JVs and other corporate matters
• Managing disputes and claims
• Ensure integrity of corporate structure working in hand with the company secretarial team
• You may also advise on IP, property, GDPR, H&S, antibribery and sanctions
• Work as part of a group senior legal leadership team
• Delivering training sessions and maintaining/updating legal documents
• Managing and instructing external advisers

We are looking for:

• Qualified solicitor or barrister ideally with at least 8 years PQE *
• Some experience working in-house ideally in a similar sector such as energy, engineering or manufacturing
• Sound knowledge of commercial contracts
• Ability to manage
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organisational skills
• A robust, self-starter
