A leading offshore law firm is looking for Private Client Associates from NQ – 5 PQE to join its Tier 1 Private Client team in Jersey, advising on the very best mandates available.

The Firm do not expect nor require applicants to have had exposure to any of the types of work they handle – particularly in relation to private wealth and trusts work – nor have come from a leading Firm. Full training will be provided, and you’ll be joining an incredibly supportive team led by Partners who are genuinely invested in your development.

All this Firm look for in applicants are individuals with an interest in developing a balanced and varied private client practice which includes traditional non-contentious private client work such as Will drafting, together with the elements specific to offshore jurisdictions such as private wealth advisory work for HNW and UHNW individuals.

The Role

The role will involve advising professional trustees, private individuals, financial institutions and charities on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious trust and private wealth matters, including trust and supplemental deed drafting, will drafting, trust law analysis and advisory work, probate applications, wealth structuring and family office planning, and restructuring exercises. You’ll be joining a dynamic and well-resourced team.

Why Is this Role Special?

Opportunities for Private Client lawyers to relocate are exceptionally rare – this opportunity allows you to do just that, even if only for a few years. It also presents the rare opportunity to gain exposure to both contentious and non-contentious private client work.

Offshore law firms absolutely do not expect their Associates to commit to living offshore for the rest of their life! Whilst many lawyers ultimately end up doing so, due to the quality of life and salaries on offer, the training and quality of work on offer at this Firm will provide an excellent basis for you to return to U.K at a later date should you wish to do so (where you will able to come-in ahead of your peers, both in terms of Title and salary), or even choose to relocate further afield to the BVI, Cayman Islands or Bermuda should you wish.

This role offers the opportunity to work on London-level work – indeed many of the instructions you handle will involve working alongside Magic Circle law firms in London – but without the hours and commute that come with living and working in London. The salaries on offer are just as attractive as those found at the leading firms in London when you take account of the tax rate.
