Property Damage Solicitor / Associate / Senior Associate - Bristol (UK) - The national team of leading lawyers specialising in some of the most complex, high-profile subrogated loss work is looking to hire an experienced litigator with proven property damage and insurance coverage experience. The team works collaboratively with colleagues across the country including in London and handle some of the most interesting and challenging large and complex loss work.

  • Previous Experience: Proven experience of property damage work or experience of other areas of subrogated loss. The team are looking for capable, technical insurance litigators.

Nature of the candidate

The team is considering candidates at various levels. Depending on the successful applicant's experience they may be handling their own matters from inception, or they might be assisting a Partner as they develop into the role.

The ideal would be to attract a candidate capable of handling their own caseload whilst assisting a Partner with their own, more complex matters.

The team handles a broad range of work from leading insurers including large loss household and commercial property damage claims as well as, product liability and subsidence claims.

Examples of property damage cases have included claims involving criminal activity as well as large scale fires, chemical escapes and building collapses. The team handles the kind of work that can easily rival any of the other big names in the sector and are looking for the right candidate to add further strength and depth to the department.

Overview of responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in a range of tasks including:

  • Handling own caseload depending on level of PQE or assisting where relevant
  • Assisting the Partner with complex large loss matters
  • Preparing draft advices to client - to be checked by Partner as appropriate
  • Preparing draft advices on coverage
  • Assessing coverage, liability, quantum and strategy
  • Conducting investigations
  • Preparing instructions to counsel and experts
  • Attending at client meetings, strategy discussions and conferences
  • Drafting applications to court
  • Attending settlement negotiations and ADR meetings
