Senior Counsel - Sports Media - (14 month FTC)

Major international broadcaster requires a Senior Legal Counsel with significant experience in sports media rights to join them for a 14 month maternity cover contract, starting in August. The role is based in Central London and please note the expectation is a for 5 days per week to be spent in the office.

About the Role

Working as part of a collegiate team that has an excellent reputation throughout the sports media industry, you will enjoy a broad diet of work including:

* Negotiating and advising on sports rights acquisition agreements with a range of rights holders, agencies and broadcasters globally.
* Integrating closely with the commercial side of the business and the wider rights team to provide support throughout the negotiation lifecycle including advising on tenders, offer documents, sales documents, media rights agreement negotiation and post contract advice
* Advising on agreements and documentation ancillary to rights acquisitions and providing key legal & regulatory input to bid strategies
* Working on anti-piracy initiatives and pursuing infringement cases with rights holders.

About You

The client believes that this role requires an individual with at least 8 years' PQE although applications from all levels will be considered on merit. You will have gained extensive experience of negotiating complex and high value sports media rights agreements and be able to advise on all stages of the process. As well as solid law firm training, you will also have worked at either a sports broadcaster, rights holder, agency or within digital media. Applications from individuals who have negotiated broadcasting/production rights in the wider media sector and are looking to make a move into sports will also be considered, although this would be pitched at the lower end of the salary range.
