Our client, a top-tier national firm, is currently recruiting for a Practice Development Lawyer for its Dispute Resolution team. As well as the relevant skills and experience, they are looking for someone who has a passion for commercial dispute resolution and for sharing their expertise within a team environment. The role would allow you to be involved in key business development and marketing initiatives as well as engage extensively with partners, lawyers and other teams in the firm, becoming a trusted advisor to key stakeholders at all levels.
The Team
The Dispute Resolution team has an impressive client base of household names, particularly in the media, entertainment and technology sectors, and regularly deal with high value and complex claims, collaborating with the firms international colleagues to resolve cross-border disputes. It handles major domestic and international arbitrations (including ICC, LCIA and specialist tribunals) and uses all forms of ADR, achieving excellent results.
The role
The role will involve:
Working alongside key stakeholders and colleagues across the firm to maintain and develop the specialist support provided to the team;
Supporting the firm with growing its existing client and developing new relationships
Identifying and sharing external training opportunities
Assisting team members in preparing for internal and external seminars, conference and client training events and also potentially presenting at such events
Collaborating with lawyers in the team to develop and market client training products
Attending regular meetings with fee-earners to identify business development objectives, identify new targets and cross-selling opportunities
Support growth of existing junior level peer-to-peer network
Assisting with overseas business development trips
Proactively monitoring trends in dispute resolution to ensure marketing materials, articles and client training are at the cutting-edge in terms of content and delivery
Generating articles for publication
Assisting with pitch documents
Lead on planning and ensuring a steady stream of regular, targeted content for the firm website, LinkedIn and other online sources
Proactively identifying opportunities arising from new legislation, case-law and developments in dispute resolution, trends in the market and changes in clients' businesses, supporting the team's partners and Business Development Managers with growth plans for the team
Skills and Experience Required
The successful candidate will:-
Be a Disputes Resolution lawyer of 5+ years' PQE, looking to move into a part-time PDL role or already working in such a role.
Have spent time within the Dispute Resolution team of a medium or large private practice law firm or in-house litigation team, and developed strong technical legal skills and gained experience of commercial disputes.
Have excellent academics as well as strong writing, research, analytical and organisational skills, high attention to detail, strong client focus and a clear communication style (both spoken and written).
Good practical knowledge of IT and know how systems. Experience of legal technology would also be an advantage.
Be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, as well as a self-starter, able to work independently and use initiative
