Main Purpose of the Role

  • Managing a small high quality legal function
  • Overall responsibility for legal matters of strategic importance affecting the Group.
  • Providing pragmatic, well-articulated and prompt legal advice on all major business transactions and critical contracts.
  • Senior stakeholder management (the Board, CEO, CFO, Business Unit Heads and Trading Teams)

Key responsibilities and accountabilities


  • A strong first principals' lawyer with an ability to handle a contentious and non-contentious workload.
  • Acting as 'point person' on transaction processes. Including but not limited to the drafting and negotiation of key transaction documentation such as NDAs, heads of terms, SPAs, transitional service agreements, post-closing adjustments, the co-ordination of due diligence, change of control contract reviews.
  • The business often sits in the middle of the supply chain therefore risk mitigation is imperative.
  • Working with the risk management function on compliance, sanctions and ant-bribery matters.
  • Advising on the merits of disputes or potential disputes, working with the business to devise a strategy.
  • Working closely with finance lawyer and CFO to renew, amend and/or extend existing trade finance facilities.
  • Managing relationships with external counsel
  • Management of specific projects where required.
