This prestigious offshore law firm encourages its lawyers to take leadership responsibility in both managing deals and building client relationships. As part of a small but high-performing BVI team you will quickly be running large corporate matters spanning areas such as M&A, private equity, funds and corporate finance. It is complex and challenging work that demands intellectual agility, technical excellence and strong communication skills, but which will in turn enable you to build the perfect platform for future partnership. Furthermore, this is a friendly and collegiate team with the drive and ambition to grow, making it a nice place to work as well as a serious career move.
British Virgin Islands
For some, the BVI is the pick of the Caribbean. A mountainous, rain forested interior surrounded by picture-postcard bays, it is probably not far from the idyllic image that might cross your mind when you ponder whether there is ‘more to life’. It’s not for everyone. You will need to be comfortable with a slower pace, you will see its remoteness as a gift rather than an inconvenience, and you will be the sort of person who gets more out of sailing, diving, or relaxing on the beach than you do from the buzz of city life. If that’s you, you will love it here. Not to mention that the work, much of it emanating out of China/Asia, is some of the most interesting and challenging in the sector.
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 4-6 months later. Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation, including temporary accommodation on arrival.
Salary likely to be in the range of USD150k-USD200k with a low tax-rate (c8%). Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance).
To secure a work permit in the BVI you will need to be admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales. This role is likely to suit someone with at least 3 years’ PQE (but more senior associates are certainly encouraged to apply). You will need experience of high-value corporate work from a good UK or equivalent law firm.
Origin Legal International
Our team has 25 years’ experience of helping lawyers to make international and offshore moves. If you would like to find out more about this role or chat about an overseas move in general, please get in touch.
