Procurement Legal Specialist - Leeds

A leading global firm is looking for a Procurement Legal Specialist to join their team in Leeds. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of services that underpin the operations of the firm.

The team act as in-house legal counsel to the wider Procurement team and business stakeholders. They are responsible for working alongside the firm to review, draft and negotiate a range of commercial supplier agreements from initiation to execution. With the firm expanding globally, local an international contracts and risk management is vital. This is an excellent time to join the team as they continue to develop.

The Role:

- As a Procurement Legal Specialist in this team, you will be involved in drafting, negotiating and advising on a range of commercial supplier contracts from start to finish. The work will be varied, with some high value, high risk bespoke agreements, IT and software and service agreements, or lower value consultancy and non-disclosure agreements, including extensions and variations.
- You will work closely with the firms Office of the General Counsel and Information Security teams to ensure that appropriate due diligence is carried out on suppliers.
- Advising stakeholders on the commercial and legal aspects of contracts, including highlighting any risks to the business.
- Shaping key decisions for the firm and supporting positive working relationships with internal clients and external third-party suppliers whilst promoting good practice, acting as an ambassador for the team and the wider Firm.
- Amending existing supplier agreements in line with changing requirements.
- Provide training to the Procurement team on new legislation which affects them and the contracts they are responsible for.
- Prepare new contract templates and develop a departmental precedent bank.
- Accurately record contract & details within the firm's contracts database.
- Support the wider Procurement team and stakeholders in order to maintain and improve service levels, drive innovation and ensure compliance.
- Work with business owners, suppliers, and the wider team in obtaining best value, least risk outcomes for the Firm.
- Support the Head of Procurement in implementing changes and improvement, both within the team and for stakeholders.

Candidate requirements:

- The successful candidate will hold a legal qualification and will have experience in commercial contracts.
- Good knowledge of data protection, intellectual property and IR35 will be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
- A good track record of analysing issues and drawing conclusions clearly in order to articulate the commercial implications of negotiated contractual terms.
- Proven resilience and the ability to deal professionally with conflict, to challenge assumptions and to deliver difficult messages.
- The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a supportive team.
- An eye for detail and the ability to prioritise.

Competitive salary up to around £55k depending on experience.
