This Legal 500 firm are seeking a motivated Senior Solicitor to join their Projects Department to add to a highly regarded procurement team. The team carries out a wide variety of work focussed on the local government (including public transport), housing, social business and health and social care sectors. This firm has a particular strength in governance, especially in the establishment of joint venture vehicles and the use of cooperative structures to enable better service and project delivery, and the successful candidate should be keen to embrace these strong points that are special to the firm.
The candidate should be adept at advising on contracts and procurement, but also UK subsidy law and related funding regimes. A track record as a lead lawyer in major procurement exercises is essential. A wider understanding and expertise in competition law is desirable. The candidate may have leaning towards construction law but equally expertise in services contracts is extremely important as the firm does a lot work in frontline local government services such as waste management. The candidate should be fully conversant with the latest stages of the Procurement Bill and be ready to co-lead in demonstrating the firm's ability to creatively assist clients make the most of impending changes and navigate flaws in the upcoming legislation.
The candidate should be open to working with colleagues with strong views on good procurement practice and should be totally committed to advancing sustainability and community benefits in project outcomes.
