One of Yorkshire's leading law firms is looking to recruit a Family Legal Secretary to be based at the central Leeds office. This is the most accredited law firm in Yorkshire and its wide range of specialist accreditations across the firm speaks of the expertise and provides security.

This firm promotes an outstanding work/life balance and offers an extensive benefits package to include:
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • A share of the firm's profits each year
  • Death in service benefit
  • 23 days paid holiday, increasing to 26 days from 1 year continuous service
  • Lifeworks employee assistance program
  • Members of the First Bus Commuter Travel Club which offers discounts for ‘normal’ bus travel and park and ride tickets

Ideally you will have experience in Child Care/Family, however Legal Secretaries without this experience will still be considered.

The role involves supporting the renowned team of Family solicitors who specialise in children, care and domestic violence matters (Legal Aid Agency-funded files).

The team has a large caseload, and the nature of the work means that deadlines are often extremely tight. As the solicitors spend a significant amount of time at court, secretaries need to be able to provide excellent support and effectively liaise between the solicitor and client. Documents and letters need to be accurate and produced in a timely manner.

The successful applicant will have experience as a Family Legal Secretary dealing with Legal Aid Agency-funded clients with a good knowledge and understanding of the legal process, forms, and documents used.

KEY TASKS:
  • Audio and some copy typing to fee earners’ specification
  • Producing documents from the Case Management system
  • Management of the files under the fee earner’s direction from opening files to preparing them for archiving
  • Liaising with clients and other parties on behalf of fee earners and dealing with enquiries as appropriate
  • Liaising with the Accounts department to produce cheques, pay disbursements
  • Maintaining diaries and making appointments when required
  • Filing, photocopying, collating of documents and other clerical duties
  • Checking Legal Aid payments and distribution thereof
  • Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment
  • Contributing to maintaining and improving office procedures

If you are a Legal Secretary and meet the above criteria, please apply directly via the link for this central Leeds-based role.
