new opportunity for a Senior Law Costs Draftsman has become available in central Leeds with a leading defendant law firm that provides innovative, high quality, specialist legal services to insurance companies, corporates, and public sector bodies. The successful Law Costs Draftsman will be responsible for negotiating, agreeing and settling the legal costs associated with a Court case and for completing post-assessment work. The successful candidate will be a qualified costs lawyer, Solicitor or CILEX. 
 
Key Aspects of the Role
  • Draft Bills of Costs and N260s
  • Draft Points of Dispute and/or Replies to claims for costs.
  • Assist in the preparation of costs budgets, advise on costs budgets presented by an opposing party and prepare Precedent Rs with negotiation where appropriate.
  • Negotiate Bills including attendance at hearings as required.
  • Attendance upon Detailed Assessment Hearing as and when necessary.
  • Providing technical/costs guidance to fee earners where required.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the key performance targets by achieving own objectives effectively e.g., productivity, leakage, budget, fraud and service targets as appropriate to the Team.
  • Effectively use the Firm’s case management system to ensure data held is accurate and up to date.
  • Follow agreed processes, policies and procedures to ensure quality and service standards are met and leakage is minimised.
  • Provide guidance and support to others in the team so that overall team effectiveness is enhanced.
To be considered for the role you must have experience working in a litigation environment within a Costs Team and have experience of handling your own costs caseload from start to finish. You will be a qualified costs lawyer, Solicitor or CILEX.
