A new opportunity for a Law Costs Draftsman has become available in central Leeds with a leading defendant law firm that provides innovative, high quality, specialist legal services to insurance companies, corporates, and public sector bodies. This national firm offers clients the full breadth of claims-related legal work, from high volume claims handling through to complex, high value litigation. The firm has over 700 employees and is headquartered in Leeds, with eight additional offices across the UK.

The successful Law Costs Draftsman will be responsible for negotiating, agreeing and settling the legal costs associated with a Court case and for completing post-assessment work.
 
Key Aspects of the Role
  • Draft detailed and accurate Bills of Costs for Detailed Assessment or Provisional Assessment.
  • Draft Bills in compliance with the Civil Procedural Rules (CPR).
  • Drafting Schedules for Summary Assessment.
  • Manage costs budget.
  • Ensure compliance with file management procedures.
  • Draft bills of costs for N260s; costs budgets; and points of reply/dispute
  • Draft Bills and Schedules of Costs.
  • Draft Points of Dispute and Replies to claims for costs.
  • Assist in the preparation of costs budgets and advise on costs budgets presented by an opposing party.
To be considered for the role you must have experience working in a litigation environment within a Costs Team and have experience of handling your own costs caseload from start to finish. Ideally you will be a qualified costs lawyer or have a law degree, LPC and/or CILEX qualifications.
