Our client, a renowned international law firm specialising in marine and commercial disputes, is seeking a highly skilled Marine Associate to join their esteemed team in Singapore. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a prominent firm known for its expertise in the maritime industry.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional legal advice and representation to clients in a wide range of marine and commercial disputes, including charter party disputes, cargo claims, collisions, salvage, and general average matters
  • Handle complex litigation and arbitration cases related to marine insurance, marine casualties, shipbuilding, and other maritime issues
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research, prepare legal memoranda, pleadings, and briefs, and contribute to the development of effective legal strategies
  • Collaborate closely with clients, including shipowners, charterers, P&I clubs, and international insurers, while managing client relationships and expectations
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and negotiations on behalf of clients, effectively advocating their interests and striving for favourable outcomes
  • Stay updated with the latest legal developments in maritime law and relevant industry trends and provide guidance to clients and colleagues accordingly
  • Work closely with senior lawyers and partners within the firm, assisting in business development initiatives and building a strong network within the maritime sector

Requirements:
  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in Marine and Commercial Disputes
  • Extensive experience in handling a broad range of marine disputes, including charter party disputes, cargo claims, collisions, and salvage matters
  • Strong litigation and arbitration skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex cases from inception to resolution
  • Excellent knowledge of international maritime conventions, applicable laws, and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough legal research, analyse complex issues, and provide sound legal advice and strategies
  • Exceptional communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and effectively present arguments in various forums
  • Proactive and commercially astute mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and contribute to the growth of the practice
  • Fluency in English is essential, and proficiency in additional languages will be advantageous
