Fantastic opportunity to join an entrepreneurial and well establish group in a newly created role as Deputy General Counsel. You will take a key role in developing legal strategy and building up a small legal team. This is a fast growth business looking to continue growing through acquisition.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the GC and Company Secretary you will act as deputy whilst taking responsibility for operational legal matters.
  • You will engage on legal governance across the group, shaping legal strategy whilst handling day-to-day legal matters.
  • This will include overseeing a mix of public and private sector contracts, data protection/GDPR, company law, information technology, corporate, regulatory and disputes work.
  • The successful candidate will be able to scope the role aligning legal strategy and advice to the business’s needs.
  • Build and oversee a small legal team.
  • Manage external counsel.

 

We are looking for:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales with at least 4 years PQE* in general commercial work gained in-house or with a well-regarded law firm.
  • Ability to draft private and public contracts, manage disputes and advise on data protection and regulatory matters.
  • Some prior experience working in-house would be a benefit.
  • Seeking a bright, adaptable and self-sufficient lawyer keen to advance their career in a role which will involve close executive involvement.
  • Hybrid working is on offer with 3 days in the office per week.
