This role is a general commercial, wide-ranging In-house Legal Counsel role which is based in London as part of an established Legal Team would be suitable for a junior lawyer (circa - 0 - 4 yrs PQE) with general commercial contracts experience (inc IT / SaaS) and construction contracts amongst the subject matter of work involved.

Our Client is a well known Infrastructure Consultancy with offices and projects throughout the world.

Description

The responsibilities with this role include:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including consultancy agreements, standard form construction contracts, framework agreements, NDAs, software licences and SaaS agreements.
  • Identify departures from our governance as part of the review of such commercial agreements and assist project teams in obtaining the necessary internal approvals where appropriate
  • Advise business on applicable laws and regulations.
  • Revise and maintain legal templates for use across the Group ensuring they reflect current best practice and legislation.
  • Draft and update legal guidance to raise awareness of recurrent topics and new regulations.
  • Advise business on litigation and insurance matters, which may include liaising with outside counsel and technical experts.
  • Assist with Group projects including company formations and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Support other parts of the Legal Department such as the Ethics & Compliance and Data Protection teams

Profile

The successful candidate will:

  • be a Qualified Solicitor (in England & Wales, Scotland, or some other Common Law jurisdiction)
  • be likely to have circa NQ - 4 years PQE
  • have relevant experience either in private practice with a top national firm or in-house and good practical experience of the application of legal principles and commercial law.

Nice to haves - Legal experience

  • in negotiating and drafting commercial and other business to business technology and information related contracts.
  • of construction law preferably gained in a consultancy environment or with a client/contractor.
