Legal Counsel
Sheffield City Centre (With Hybrid Working)
Full-Time Or Part-Time
Haggerty Jaques is delighted to be instructed by this growing and progressive business to recruit a Legal Counsel into this brand new role.
The Business
This is an exciting time to be joining the business. Fuelled by recent private equity investment, there is set to be a period of continuing growth and plenty of interesting legal work to get involved with.
The business has a Sheffield city centre HQ but operates all over the country, as it continues to increase its national presence.
The office, located in a trendy part of the city, showcases this business’ culture extremely well – it is vibrant, bright, fun, and a great place to work. Breakfast is provided free of charge daily, along with a great selection of healthy (and not so healthy) snacks and drinks. A recreational area is also on hand to ensure you have somewhere to relax or have a game of pool.
The Role
You will be working very closely with the General Counsel, assisting on some matters but also taking the lead on others. You will be a team player but also capable and willing to take responsibility for various tasks and projects.
You will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships with various stakeholders across the business, including at Director and Investor level, and across a variety of departments, including marketing, sales, finance, and customer services teams. The Legal Counsel will play a leading role in protecting the company’s brand and developing the legal governance of its work with brand ambassadors and influencers.
This brilliant in-house role would suit a lawyer who can embrace variety. The role is extremely broad in its scope and will see you getting under the skin of the business and how it operates. You will play an important role in the continued development of the legal team.
As Legal Counsel, you will be equipped with a great range of skills and experience: you could be doing anything from negotiating contracts, to advising on IP protection, employment matters, and working on corporate governance and company secretarial matters. An ability to be able to research and confidently advise on a range of legal topics is a must, as is the ability to recognise when external specialist legal support is required.
The Ideal Candidate
The business is looking for a qualified lawyer with a minimum of around 3 years’ PQE, with a good level of exposure to commercial law, although you could have far more experience than that. You might even be returning to the law after a career break.
Ideally you would have worked in-house previously (including as a secondee) but the business will also consider lawyers with the relevant experience from private practice who are looking to move in-house for the first time.
If you're looking for a role with a growing business in which no two days are the same, we would encourage you to get in touch.
Any PQE levels referred to in our adverts are included purely as a guide and should not preclude candidates with more or fewer years’ experience from applying.
